About the Saint
The Story of Saint Abba Karas the Anchorite (Al-Saeh)
"He who asks for anything in my name or remembers my name on earth, I will fulfill all his needs..." — A divine promise given to Saint Karas.
The Arabic inscription at the bottom reads: "القديس الأنبا كاراس السائح" (The Holy Abba Karas the Anchorite/Wanderer).
Saint Abba Karas was a 5th-century Coptic monk and the brother of the Roman Emperor Theodosius the Great. Seeking a life entirely dedicated to God, he left behind his royal heritage, wealth, and worldly status to escape into the deep Egyptian desert.
For 57 years, Saint Karas lived in complete isolation, practicing strict asceticism, prayer, and fasting. He lived as a "Saeh" (a wandering anchorite), entirely hidden from the eyes of the world until his final days, when Saint Pambo was divinely guided by the Holy Spirit to find him and record his remarkable life.
Known for his profound humility and deep spiritual intimacy with Christ, Saint Karas is beloved by Christians around the world. He is widely turned to as a powerful intercessor for those seeking comfort, strength, and divine intervention in times of trouble.
